Written for buyers, not for search engines
Most of what we know about assembly work, we learned from customers' questions: what a good enquiry contains, what separates a controlled build from an improvised one, what testing should mean. These articles are those answers, written properly. They are buyer guides and technical explainers — not promotional copy wearing a headline.
Each article is written from the working reality of build-to-print assembly: what engineering and procurement teams actually need to evaluate, specify and order. Where an article says "ask your supplier this", it means ask us too — the questions in these guides are the ones we answer every week, and the answers in them are the standard we hold ourselves to.
The topics we choose come from the enquiry inbox, not from a keyword tool. When the same question arrives three times in a month — what testing should accompany a cable assembly, what a complete PCB quote needs, when a harness beats separate assemblies — it earns a proper answer that anyone can read. The planned articles listed below exist for the same reason: they are questions we are currently asked and have not yet written down properly.
How to get the most from these articles
Read the one nearest your current decision, not all of them at once. If you are choosing between suppliers, start with the evaluation guide; if a drawing is on your desk, the specification article for that assembly type is the relevant one. The checklists are written to be lifted — copy them into your RFQ template or supplier scorecard and edit them to your context; the questions are the value, not the wording.
Where an article and your own experience disagree, trust the experience — then tell us. Half of what is worth writing here was learned from customers explaining where our answers were incomplete, and the next reader benefits from that correction.
A note on cadence: articles are published when they are finished, not to a calendar — a guide that is right matters more than a post that is punctual. Expect a handful of articles per quarter, each one answering something a real buyer or engineer needed to know. When a new one is published it appears first on this page, and the planned list below shows what is currently being drafted.
Accuracy matters more than volume here. Nothing in these articles claims capabilities we do not have or promises testing we do not perform — the same standard the rest of this website is held to. Where an article describes what a good supplier does, it describes what we do, because these are our working practices written down. And if a question you have is not covered here, it is probably worth an article — and it is definitely worth an email. What is planned, and why
Five further guides are in preparation, each answering a question we receive regularly. The RF Cable Assembly Specification Guide will walk through the specification details that change what gets built — frequency, cable construction, connector interfaces and tolerances. Semi-Rigid Cable Assembly Considerations covers forming, bend radii and dimensional control. Electronic Module Assembly Explained sets out what module-level integration actually involves, from boards to finished units.
The remaining two are working titles with firm subject matter: LRU Assembly Requirements will explain the documentation and verification practices that make a line-replaceable unit genuinely replaceable, and Cable Assembly Quality Checks will describe the checks — from incoming material to final inspection — that separate controlled assembly from guesswork. If one of these matters to you sooner rather than later, say so; reader interest decides the order they are finished in.
